Kronberg

My partner's friend came to visit Europe for the first time ever, so I figured I'd take them to one of my favorite spots: Säntis! Unfortunately, "spring" is still in full swing, and the mountain itself is inaccessible. Luckily for us, Kronberg, the mountain just north of Säntis, wasn't completely snowed in and gave a gorgeous view. Unfortunately, I'm a bad judge of difficulty, and the hike may have been a bit much.

Lush fields and snow-dusted hills

The view from just outside Appenzell. Pictures will never do justice for just how lush the grass and how blue the sky can be in Switzerland.

Säntis covered in snow, green fields, and blue skies

Säntis being cute as always.

Overcast sky and Kronberg visible

Clouds rolled in over the hike, and so did the snow as we got higher.

Looking north-west from near Kronberg, with the Bodensee visible

Looking north-west-ish, Bodenzee visible.

Säntis and Kronberg

Nearly at the summit; the snow was a little deep at the top, considering we didn't bring snowshoes, but nothing unmanageable. We took the final cable car down to Jakobsbad with maybe 10 minutes to spare.
