Review: The Obelisk Gate

Much more sedentary and people-focused than the first book, which isn't a con for me, personally; I really enjoyed the exploration of Schaffa and Nassun's relationship, Schaffa's internal struggle, and Essun integrating into Castrima. I was very happy with the direction Jemisin went with Schaffa; she could have easily made him the ultra big bad who wants to use Nassun for neferious purposes, and I much prefer him as a redeemed antagonist (although we'll see if that lasts).

Not a lot of words this time, since most of what I said about the first book applies here too.
