Säntis

At this point, Säntis is indubitably in my top places in Switzerland. That, or I lack creativity. This time, instead of the typical route from Wasserauen to Säntis proper and back down, I started at Wasserauen, went up the valley to Meglisalp, then up and around to Fählensee, Sämtisersee, and finally back to Brülisau. As always, beautiful mountains, beautiful weather, and lots of cows.

Seealpsee

Seealpsee, with some cows on the far bank.

Facing Säntis from beside Seealpsee

Looking towards Säntis from Seealpsee. Most of my routes were along the top of the mountains on the right, while this route went up on the left.

Looking back towards Wasserauen from above Seealpsee

From above Seealpsee looking back towards the trail leading from Wassserauen to it; the first picture was taken a bit up from the water's edge on the right-hand side.

Meglisalp

Meglisalp, with Altman on the left; a full Säntis loop would trace the row of snow-covered mountains at the back, then down to the far left, to Meglisalp, then the reverse of the route so far back down to Wasserauen.

Towards Fählensee

After climbing up past Meglisalp, back down towards Fählensee; Sämtisersee is juuust visible if you trace the valley towards the left.

Cows in front of Fählensee

Fählensee. The last time I was here was when doing the Brülisau to Gamplüt via Saxerlücke route over the winter, so definitely a different experience in the summer, and equally gorgeous, this time with cows!

Sämtisersee. From here, it was a relatively easy downhill to Brülisau.
